Test fabric

One evening last weekend, I got to hang out with C, and I was discussing the dress project with her. We were at a fabric store and I was looking for ultra-cheap-o fabric so that I could do a run-through of the pattern before I actually cut the silk. She was helping me look through the bolts and asking what type of fabric would work best, and I said “anything that’s cheap– if I had an old sheet that I could cut up, I would use that!” Lo and behold, C actually had an old sheet that was earmarked for disposal, so her husband dropped it off with me last night at Bible Study.

As you can see from the “swatch” I’ve inserted above, it is a lovely, large, brown floral pattern
I don’t usually do a trial run with a pattern, but I figured that the real fabrics are nicer than anything I’ve used before… and once I cut them, there’s no turning back. And I probably wouldn’t be able to find something to replace them. I just want to see if the pattern is a good fit, or if I can “alter” it a bit to fix it if it’s not.
Thanks, C!!
oi-it is UGLY!- but I’m glad you can put it to good use and I can’t wait to see the outcome and the final dresses too
I do a lot of fabric shopping online at iluvfabrix.com which I think you can get to by clicking http://www.iluvfabrix.com
They have a full time designer in house who will help you with your purchases and everything seems to always be on sale.
Have a look at this: (hope I am pasting this correctly): http://www.iluvfabrix.com/products.php
Enjoy!
