I am getting more and more excited about my garden this year. I’ve decided to be more adventurous than last year and grow loose-leaf lettuces. I love those fancy mixed greens salads and there’s one kind of leaf that I think is particularly wonderful. I am pretty sure it is arugula, and [...]

This morning I have started my garden planning in earnest. I mentioned in a post earlier in the winter that this year, my husband and I want to try to grow peas. So this morning, I got out my copy of The Bountiful Container to do some pea research.
The first thing that I [...]

I am thankful for God’s promises. The one that I am thinking about in particular today is in Genesis 8:22 (NIV)
As long as the earth endures,
seed time and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.
Spring *will* come.
I am also thankful for the wonderful hospitality of Fruittart. The Easter dinner she provided for [...]

I am thankful for a week without teaching responsibilities so that I could get a *lot* done on my journal paper. The week started out with minimal productivity, and I was worried, but the past two days have been really good!
I am thankful that I can take the day off tomorrow and spend time with [...]

A Thursday or so ago, I mentioned that I was hearing birdsong in the mornings. I am so excited that spring is coming. For some reason this winter has seemed extra long and depressing, and it is so good for the soul to see signs of spring renewal! It’s weird, but the time change [...]

I’m thankful that God has given me endurance to make it through this week.
I’m also thankful for the wonderful evening I have had with my husband. A much-needed time of relaxation almost at the end of a very stressful week. And P.S., Timpone’s is YUMMY.

Last night I re-made the practice dress! This time it didn’t fall straight off my body when I put it on, so that’s a definite improvement over the first version In fact, I have pictures:
The reason I have my hand so awkwardly clamped on my waist is to hold the belt in [...]
Practice dress progress?

I spent all afternoon yesterday (Saturday) finally putting together the practice dress. There were definitely some tricky bits– especially the facings on the skirt that are part of the button-up front to the dress. But finally, after I got home from small group in the evening, I got it all sewn together and went to [...]
