I was pretty sick at the beginning of the week, so it was a nice surprise to find an email from Husband saying that a whole bunch of my seeds had sprouted on Monday! I didn’t have him take any pictures, but I finally got healthy and went in today to see them for myself.
First, [...]

Cleaning up the containers

Saturday was a gloriously beautiful spring day. I couldn’t just sit inside, so I got out my rubber gloves and an old to-be-thrown-away sponge and got at the pots.
Last year I had some trouble with powdery mildew on my cucumbers (which ended up killing them) and I didn’t want that to reappear this year, at [...]

On Saturday morning, I attended the small-space gardening class at Prairie Gardens. It was interesting, though having done a lot of reading/research on the subject of container gardening, and having done it for 2 years, not a lot of the information was brand new to me. But it’s always good to have your facts reinforced.
After [...]
Thankful Thursday

This week, I am most thankful for the way God gave me so much peace. I had two job interviews– one on the phone (on Monday) and one in person (on Wednesday). I have never had a real interview before, and I was quite nervous. But God blessed me with incredible peace!
Monday’s interview was [...]
Unsproutyness

I’m a bit worried that the sprouts aren’t coming up. The one Early Girl sprout I mentioned in a previous post is still growing okay, and I’ve spotted a parsley sprout or two and a basil sprout or two, but otherwise, the containers are sproutless. I wonder how long I should wait before trying to [...]

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be interviewed for a postdoc position with a physics education research group. I have the interview next week and I really hope that it goes well. I’m pretty much terrified about it, to be honest. But I’m thankful for the opportunity to switch fields to something that [...]
First sprout!!

The first sprout appeared today (well, it might have come up over the weekend, but I saw it today at lunch!)!!!
It’s an Early Girl tomato sprout. Funny, because the Yellow Pear and Tiny Tim tomatoes both have shorter germination times (3-8 days) than the Early Girl (10-15 days)
But I’m just excited to have any sprouts [...]

Regenerating green onions

Last Monday, I made a recipe that used a few green onions. Inspired by Jimmy Cracked Corn’s post, I decided to save the ends and replant them. I didn’t feel like going out in the wind and cold to get more soil right then, so I just stuck them in some water. I was amazed [...]
