I’ve been keeping myself busy around here while the gardening season is getting warmed up… I’ve been doing a lot of sewing:

a jersey-knit dress

a blouse
Both of these pictures were taken on an extremely windy day. So windy, in fact, that the power went out for a few hours later that afternoon.
I also finally finished the project I had been planning to display all the beautiful shells I found on vacation:

Finally, I have quite a few good friends who are having babies in the near future. Since I’ve been reading all sorts of fun craft and sewing blogs, I see a lot of cute baby projects that I’ve been able to try. Most recently, Husband and I made a set of onesies for a couple we know who wanted some rocker-baby gear for their little one:

black onesies
Husband and I dyed some plain white cotton onesies black (RIT dye) and cut out freezer paper stencils to “screen print” the designs with fabric paint. Some closeups:

We were pretty excited about how well they turned out!
I still have at least 5 sewing projects waiting on my lovely craft table right now, as well as scrapbooking that is calling my name. Recently I have been having a lot of fun scrapbooking with my friends. While it is hard to gather up just the right supplies to lug to someone else’s place to work, it *does* make me focus and get my layouts done. Maybe I’ll actually catch up someday!
Just thought I’d share some projects… Crafting and gardening keep me sane

I love the onsies! I’m sure you did a great job on the sewing projects too, but the pics are so tiny!
Great onesies! Very cool. And the shells look great!
these are awesome. Don’t know why I hadn’t though of dying the onsies before!
where did you get the stencil art from?
thanks, everyone!
vanessa, we downloaded images from the internet (google “free stencils”) for the guitar and the drumset. i used the autoshapes in Word to make the star behind the guitar. we actually used a free font to make the “ROCK” stencil, and Husband manipulated some images that he found online to make the stick-man-smashing-the-guitar and the hand.
