Things sure have been busy around here since my last post. Husband and I had a nice long weekend at GenCon in Indianapolis, I started my new job, I won a blue ribbon and a rosette at the State Fair for one of my sewn projects (more about that in a later post, maybe!
)… and lots of more “normal life” stuff.

The garden is doing okay. Yeah, just okay. It is suffering pretty badly from powdery mildew, and I’ve been pretty lazy about trying to treat it. I keep meaning to spray it down with a solution of water, baking soda, and dish soap, but I haven’t quite gotten to it. The tomatoes are finally getting red (or yellow, in the case of the Yellow Pears), which has been lovely for our salads! We’ve also enjoyed some bell peppers and some strawberries.

Fourth of July tomatoes in various stages of redness

The Red Lightning tomatoes are gorgeous in every stage.
Some of our tomatoes found their way into a Caprese salad last Friday along with some basil from our plants. I think that I could live on fresh mozzarella, ripe red tomatoes, and good bread for a week (or three) if I had to! Yum.

MMMM Caprese salad...
