It’s so pitiful, really, that I’m not going to show a picture of it. A while ago, I went out and mercilessly hacked off a bunch of tomato branches and leaves that were doomed by powdery mildew. My garden looks depressingly skeletal now, but at least it is still producing for now:

Things sure have been busy around here since my last post. Husband and I had a nice long weekend at GenCon in Indianapolis, I started my new job, I won a blue ribbon and a rosette at the State Fair for one of my sewn projects (more about that in a later post, maybe! [...]
End-of-July garden

The garden is growing beautifully. The tomato plants are enormous and have green tomatoes all over them… the ripening is taking a *long* time for this impatient balcony gardener! I thought I’d share a few photos that I took on July 31.
Tomatoes and peppers on their way

The garden has been flourishing in the recent heat and humidity (as long as I remember to water it regularly!
There are *lots* of little peppers on our pepper plant. I’m amazed that such a small plant can keep up with so many!
There are buds on nearly all of the tomato plants, and last time I [...]

This week I am thankful for the productivity I have been having with my work. Even though I got a cold from Husband, I was able to work 2 full days from home. Husband figured out a way for me to hook up my work laptop to the TV at home so that I could [...]

Yes, I do realize it’s Friday– but better late than never!
I’m thankful this week that some loose ends for my dissertation work are starting to get tied up. One last major hurdle and I think I’m set to go to finish my analysis. And today I officially set my defense date for July 22. It’s [...]

This post is going to be sort of a summary of my garden this past summer– what worked and what didn’t… and a future post will perhaps muse on what I hope to do for next year
Tomatoes
The tomato plants worked out really well!! If only we hadn’t gone out of town right [...]
First frost

Well, I saw the first frost yesterday morning (at least, I was up early enough to see whether there was frost). We had been prepared for it though…
Here’s a picture of the dying garden on Saturday afternoon before I started the dismantling process.
The tomato and pepper plants aren’t really quite dead, but it’s too [...]
The end is near…

The end of the summer weather, that is. I suppose I shouldn’t feel so surprised, since it is practically the end of October and we’ve only had a few days of < 70-degree weather.
I think my cucumbers have all died The vines are all shrivelly and droopy. Part of it [...]
