I am now one layout away from finishing my list of stuff-to-scrapbook for 2008. Yay! The photos for that layout should be arriving in the mail any day now…
But let’s talk about my penultimate 2008 layout:
The layout is based on the sketch on page 44 of Becky Fleck’s PageMaps book. I took it pretty literally here… I’ve been working on the deconstruction of my craft room for the past week (and longer…. You can see my post about it HERE, and I’ll have another when the nursery is (approximately) finished…) and have been sort of out of the habit of scrapbooking. Sometimes taking a sketch and using it literally is the best way for me to get back into the swing of things.
I’ve had these photos printed for what feels like forever. And I just couldn’t find the right papers to go with them. Then I won a “Mind the Gap” kit from Studio Calico on Facebook. I was shuffling through the contents and realized they were just right! Thanks, Studio Calico!
See that green barbed wire paper with the journaling? That was actually the back of an advertisement card included with the kit.
The white letters that I used in my title are tiny vinyl stickers that I got from a friend. She sent me a whole bunch of really cool alphabet rub-ons (I think) and stickers that she’d gotten in a box of book-binding (and other) supplies.
And that red tissue paper? Well, you know those sheets of white tissue paper that come with wedding invitations? I think they’re supposed to look like blotting paper or something. Well, we had a few extra packages after we mailed our wedding invitations, and I’ve been saving it, because who knows when you need small rectangles of tissue paper, right? Haha. The red sheets were cover sheets on each of the stacks, and for whatever reason they popped into my head when I was looking through my supplies for some red to add to this layout.
