I think that this is one of my absolute favorite parts of growing a garden: seeing those bright green sprouts appear. Of course, I love eating the fresh-picked tomatoes, too, but sprouts might actually top that. It’s really like a miracle.
The cups with the tomato seeds have been sunning themselves in front of the south-facing window in my craft room. Most of the time, the metal sheet tray holding the plastic trays of cups is balanced on a luggage rack positioned to get the most sun possible. And I spotted sprouts last Wednesday!
The biggest (and first) sprouts were the new (to me) variety: Best Boy (right). But there were some tiny Jelly Bean sprouts (middle) and at least one Fourth of July (left) emerging, too.
Here they are now, about a week later. (Now the tray is sitting on some stacked storage bins I have in the craft room, since the luggage rack is needed in the guest room. Also, the tray is rotated 180 degrees from the last photo, so that the sprouts don’t grow “crooked!”)
