Yesterday, I was looking at the June sketch challenge over at the Scrapbook Circle blog. I realized that I actually still have supplies left from their March 2010 kit!! (Can you believe it, over 3 years old!) Even though I’d made a number of layouts with the kit already, back when I first got it, I knew I had enough to participate in the challenge, albeit with a now-“vintage” kit 🙂 (They did say you could use any SC kit!! I wonder if anyone else is still hanging onto 3-year-old…or older…kits? They’re that good!)
I was delighted with how quickly this layout came together. As I pulled out the supplies and considered the sketch, this pair of photos came to mind– I’d filed them away with journaling already written (makes the layout even faster!). Every time I work with a kit, I remember how much I love kits. They keep me from being overwhelmed by choice from my supplies.
In order to have enough letters for my title from the Jenni Bowlin cut-apart Bingo cards, I had to use upside-down exclamation points for my “I”s, but I think it works out pretty well. And now I’m addicted (if you can call using it twice an addiction..) to the scan-handwritten-title trick I mentioned in my last layout post. LOVE it!
I also decided to be brave and daring and splatter Glimmer Mist on my layout. I’ve rarely used mists (kinda scared of them), and I only have three! But the pink was the perfect color for this layout, and I figured that I’ve watched Shimelle do ink splatters enough times that I could give it a shot. I like it 🙂 Another technique I’ll be trying again.
Finally, after I’d put together the whole layout, I turned over my little scrap of paper from which I’d copied my journaling, only to find that I’d written a few more paragraphs!! I added a slot behind the layers under the photo and wrote out my journaling on some white cardstock. I attached a punched tab to hint that there is more to read, and so that the extra journaling can be pulled out more easily.
