I couldn’t resist making this layout. I’ve had lots of other things I “should” be doing (laundry, cleaning, etc., haha), but I really needed some alone-time last week, so I took a couple hours to work on this.
I have mostly been working on my pre-2012 layouts, mostly because I have no idea how to even begin to tackle all the stories and photos beginning in 2013 (2012 is documented in my Project-366 album). But that’s another story. When I saw the PageMaps-Lily Bee contest sketch, I immediately thought of this photo, from New Year’s 2013. There’s a good long story to go with it (which I’d conveniently written already!) and there is only one photo. I don’t often use such a small photo (mine is about 3″x4″) alone on a page, but I’ve been wanting to try this look for a while.
I decided to work with Lily Bee papers (since it’s a Lily Bee prize for the contest :)). I’d been saving these two papers from the Christmas Town collection and even though this page is about establishing a New Year’s Eve tradition, I loved the colors with the photo (heck, I just love the colors).
I layered triangular pennant stickers to make the arrow embellishments, and I added the doily (and pieces) to reflect the circle elements in the sketch.
The title is my handwriting again (I’m loving this trick). I printed the journaling (which was quite long…and already typed up) onto the background with a font made from my handwriting.
