The other day, I wanted to make a thank-you card for a friend. I didn’t have a lot of time, but it was important to me to have a handmade card. I took a quick look at my scrapbook-related Pinterest board for an idea and basically “scrap-lifted” a cute idea I’d pinned to make this card:
I used a postcard-sized flat card (that is, one that doesn’t open, you know?) and folded it in half to make a mini card. I finally broke out some of the Bella Blvd. washi tape I won in a giveaway a while ago to make the stripes, and added the stamping (Classic Messages by Hero Arts) in two shades of brown. Finally, I added the crochet thread, tied over a heart that was die-cut from kraft cardstock. Easy! And I think it turned out pretty darn cute.
Just a side note. I love Pinterest for keeping different ideas in a place where I can visually absorb them. I hardly use it as a “social media” option (I’m not that into social media, besides my blog, and FB to a degree, anyway). But it was so great to be able to pop onto my Scrap board, find an image, and use it for inspiration like this (and in this case, I referred back to the blog post to see what the stripes were made of– washi!). Sometimes I debate whether I should split my “Scrap” board into separate boards– one for scrapbooking, one for cards, but I figure that the ideas and techniques are usually interchangeable! The one exception is that I did start a “Scrap: Pocket-Style” board for divided-page-protector ideas. Somehow that is so radically different for me… But I digress; thanks for reading my little ramble.
