We had a wonderful time putting together the decorations for the bridal shower! When my mom and I first started planning the party, I created a Pinterest board to hold our ideas. I especially wanted to make a lantern+pom-pom cluster to hang over the kitchen island as sort of the “centerpiece” decoration.
We used paper lanterns from Hobby Lobby, and my mom made pink tulle and purple and orange tissue paper pom-poms. We strung them each individually on fishline, then made an upside-down “bouquet” with them. Husband helped us to rig the whole thing with more fishline and just four small Command Hooks attached to the actual light fixture. We added swags of purple tulle to finish it all off.
We made coordinating decorations to hang from the chandeliers over the kitchen and dining room tables.
I hung stitched garlands of pink and purple die-cut hearts interspersed with die-cut two-layer butterflies around a central small purple lantern. We added a “cloud” of pink tulle to the dining room chandelier (but opted against adding the tulle on the kitchen chandelier).
The next main area of decoration was the family room mantel.
We used a string of twig-ball-lights balanced on glass candle holders of varying heights. I added two “bouquets” of twigs on either end of the mantel, and we added purple tulle and small pink and orange pom-poms. I made a larger (and longer) version of the heart + layered butterfly garland to swag along the length of the mantel. It made a nice backdrop for the gifts and some posed photos.
There were a couple of smaller tables that we decorated. First was a card table in the kitchen where guests took their nametags, signed a guestbook, and participated in the two activities (candy-count guessing game and a date-night suggestion jar).
By the door, we used the extra pink tulle to surround the basket of favors for the guests. The prizes for the games also sat here, so that the winners could pick them up on the way out.
Finally, I can’t do a post about the bridal shower decorations, without including photos of the amazing cupcakes! My mom’s friend made them, and she is incredibly talented. We showed her our main inspiration image and asked her to make cupcakes with one flower apiece, and have a few butterflies scattered throughout the groupings. Oh wow! Look what she made!
