I couldn’t very well have a plain quilt back, when I could do something a bit fancy, right? I used more of the 2″ strips to piece a vertical section to bracket a machine embroidered dedication square.
Funny story about the way I pieced them: I was describing an idea I had for the back to my mom, and she interpreted what I was saying completely differently…and it turned out that I liked her idea better!
I purchased extra wide solid white cotton for the backing, and with Husbsnd’s help folded it very carefully to make the (scary) vertical cut to insert the pieced strip.
It was very hard to capture the whole back in a photo, but here’s an idea!
Total time to prepare quilt back (including machine-embroidry of dedication square) = 6.76 hours
