I wanted to see how many layouts I could complete following Shimelle’s challenge, so I tackled another one: inspired by circles.
This is another layout that I’d started planning while I was pregnant with my first child: journaling written, sketch drawn, and photos printed! I adjusted the sketch to incorporate circles, and since the original sketch was based on a Jillibean Soup layout (the sketch contest from the blog post on 28 July 2011!), I decided to pull out some Jillibean Soup supplies for mine.
I started with the wide, green-patterned bottom strip, scalloped border, and pink floral circles. I hand-stitched more circles with embroidery floss to create diagonal movement behind the photos. It looked so naked to me, so I added some buttons.
That was better, but it needed more. Labels! Even better, but it still was looking bare and flat to me. As I worked on some other projects in my craft room, I got out some of my doilies. This layout was sitting nearby, and I suddenly had a lightbulb moment– and doilies got layered between the photos and pink floral circles. Much better.
Perhaps you noticed that there is no title on this layout. I fully intend to add a title, but I couldn’t find any alphabet stickers (either in my stash or at the store) that were quite right. When my computer is back to normal, I am going to use my Silhouette to cut out a title from kraft cardstock– it will arc around the largest pink circle. So for now, would you please pretend that it is there? 😉
