When I saw THESE cards, I was smitten. They are so elegant– and yet they have the perfect amount of whimsy. I saved a link on my Pinterest board, and when I went looking for card inspiration, I knew that I had to try to recreate the look.
Since I don’t have a stamp that has a large solid/textured shape, I decided to use patterned paper strips instead (perfect for the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge!). I pulled out scraps in different monochromatic (or close to monochromatic) groups and arranged them until I liked the order.
The large sentiment is from a Scrapbook and Cards Today birthday-themed freebie cutting file. I layered three cardstock die cuts to achieve a thickness that allows it to stand out against the busier background.
I added a secondary sentiment by embossing a message from the Hero Arts Classic Messages 2″x3″ set (that is probably my most-used stamp set! I love it) onto a strip of paper. Some adhesive pearls finish the look.
The cards are heart-shaped, but I used a trick I learned from Jennifer McGuire to make them stand upright on their own: I snipped off the pointy tip of the back heart to give it a stable “stand.”
I really, really love these cards!
