At the end of May, I wrote about how I was going to try a different type of devotions during the summer this year. Throughout the past few months, I enjoyed studying God’s Word by adding illustrations into my Bible. I did not photograph them all, but I did want to share some here.
All of my drawings are made with colored pencils and some ball-point pen (I chose these media so that there would be minimal bleed-through and shadowing on the next page). Near the beginning of the summer, I downloaded a study guide from the Navigators, from which I drew some guidance. Usually, I studied the name or attribute of God for a day or two before knowing what exactly I would illustrate, and then I would spend a day or two working on the actual drawing.
Below I’m sharing a selection of artful devotions from the summer of 2016:
The above illustrations are not all that I’ve done; I’d love to show you in person if you’re interested in seeing more 🙂
