I mentioned in my goals recap that I’d challenged myself to scrapbook every (week)day of the last week of September. I started with my Wookie layout, and even though I considered doing more Disney layout, my recent tidying/reorganization of my stuff-to-scrapbook had brought the events of Christmas 2009 back to mind.
Long ago, before my daughter (who is almost 5!) was born, I had written journaling and printed photos for my (much easier to manage at that time) list of stuff-to-scrapbook. This page was among that stuff, and I’d even chosen an inspiration layout!
This layout is one that I’ve always loved, and it was among one of my first “Scrap” pins on Pinterest, which also sadly means that the original creator of the page is lost to me– I pinned this layout from the departed Two Peas in a Bucket before I was more assiduous about detailing the artist’s name in my Pinterest caption.
I followed the “sketch” of the original layout very closely to make mine. I got out my scrapbook album to see what layouts would be around this one to inspire the color scheme, and saw THIS one and THIS one, both of which were made from the same kit. I didn’t want to pull that kit out, but instead I turned to my Christmas papers (which are running low after completing my December Daily for 2015!). The colors of the Crate Paper “Peppermint” collection were perfect.
Inspired by the teeny-tiny snowflake circles from the “Peppermint” collection kit die cut sheet (which I popped up on foam adhesive), I cut some more snowflakes out of textured white cardstock and sprinkled them around the page for embellishment.
The title is Hefalo Script, from The Crafter’s Bundle released by The Hungry JPEG. I added a slight offset to thicken the lines for cutting, and I also cut it twice more with craft cardstock. I glued together the three layers to give the whole thing some dimension, which helps it to stand out on the page (literally and figuratively!)
