It’s 2019 and time to embark on a new set of goals!
For me, some of those goals aren’t so new– chief among my goals for this year are to finish big projects that I’ve been working on for (eep) years! One of those projects is this 2016 Disney scrapbook album.
I love watching scrapbook videos, and the other day at lunch, my son and I were watching some of Shimelle’s Walt Disney Wednesday series on YouTube. As I watched, I started realizing that I could really use those videos–and each scrapbook video I watch going forward– to specifically and intentionally inspire layouts in this Disney album, and that would really help me to make progress!
And so, this layout is heavily inspired by Shimelle’s BB8 layout. In fact, I watched the video and then looked through my printed photos for this album (I’ve done a lot of pre-planning) to find a layout that would work well with this design.
I pulled out the big kit I’ve been assembling since fall 2016 for this major project–here it is after I finished this layout:
My kit is based on Shimelle’s “Starshine” collection (although other papers have been added in over the…years), and so I gathered some cut-aparts and die cuts that seemed to coordinate with this moment– our first “grand” entrance into Disney World.
I was definitely in a layering mood, so I tried to add as many details as I could–both with embellishments and with paper layers.
There are two specific details I’m including on every page: wood veneer…
…and a “hidden Mickey” made from enamel dots.
As I made this layout, I watched Shimelle’s video again for inspiration, and then I started watching Crafty Jen Schow’s Stash-Busting challenges in her Use-it-or-Lose-it series. That combination has really gotten me fired up for making more layouts in this album, so watch this space– there’s going to be more coming! 😉
