I created this layout for the Disney Creative Co. January 2022 “Colors of Magic” challenge! The palette is based on Cinderella Castle, and at first I thought I might use it for a Cinderella meet-and-greet page. But as I flipped through my 2016 Disney album project to see what layouts I could make, this one caught my eye and surprised me with how well it would fit the dark blue shades in the color swatches.
I’d been puzzling over how I was going to incorporate all the ephemera on this layout, which includes a shopping bag, a piece of packaging, a receipt, and tea bag wrappers… so I went looking for a sketch to get me started. When I saw the Simple Scrapper sketch #175, I knew I could turn the vertical band into a pocket that would be exactly what I needed!
I’ll let you in on a secret: the photo of Main Street on this layout was actually from our first night at Magic Kingdom, but I hadn’t been able to fit it onto that layout in an aesthetically pleasing way. I’m glad I saved it, because it ended up being the perfect one for this story about shopping for special souvenirs for our children on Main Street on this night of our trip.
I tucked several hidden (and not-so-hidden) Mickey heads around this layout. I especially loved hiding the two in the layers of ephemera peeking out of the pocket. The clip conveniently allows me to hold in place the piece of packaging without permanently adhering it.
