So, it’s one of my goals to get a serious chunk (if not all) of my own wedding scrapbook finished this year… and I have started (yay!)! I have planned a whole lot of the pages, and I’ve actually started cutting and adhering paper together to make two pages so far. I’ve never done a full-sized album quite like this before– where all the pages will coordinate, using the same paper and embellishments, etc., so I am taking my time to figure everything out. Also, they’re my wedding photos (not the professional ones, but still!) and that means that I have a special emotional attachment to them, and so getting the album just right (so that I will love it) is taking a lot of thought!!

But this post isn’t about my wedding!
It’s about another of my 2011 goals: to participate (on time!) each month with the Project 12 challenge at the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.
In January, Husband had the honor of standing up as Best Man in his friend’s wedding. We had a wonderful time, and I took a ton of photos. It was really hard to choose just a few for this 2-page layout, but thankfully I had the fabulous April Project 12 sketch to work with:
I haven’t been using the sketches within their original intention (to scrapbook highlights of each month in 2011), but instead, I’ve been using them to tackle those multi-photo events from my list-of-things-to-scrapbook that I have found intimidating. I have found that these multi-photo two page sketches are PERFECT for layouts about weddings we’ve attended. I changed the photo placement a bit (I wanted a photo-strip effect across the page), but I actually followed it pretty closely (the photos are even the sizes designated on the sketch!)
For this layout, I decided to break into the sample package of “Tie the Knot” products that I won on the Making Memories blog at the beginning of April. Since the wedding was a winter wedding, the cool grey and silver papers and embellishments were just right. I added some touches of royal blue (the wedding color) to highlight it in the photos.
I used one of the embossed frame to hold my journaling, which I actually wrote on some of the packaging! I loved the packaging’s subtle print. For my title, I used my Silhouette SD to cut out the letters from a scrap of the background paper that I cut away behind the striped paper, and then I spritzed the letters with a sheer silvery mist to give them a bit of sparkle.
Supplies:
paper: Making Memories Tie the Knot (Frames (B-side), Glitter Stripe, Lace)
embellishments: Making Memories Tie the Knot (Embossed Frames, Mixed Flowers, product packaging), Queen & Co. Brilliant Blue Rhinestones; trim from stash
spray mist: Smooch Spritz Vanilla Shimmer
foam adhesive: Therm O Web
black pen
I’m dying to see what you have up your sleeve for your wedding! I’m still a few pages away with my current book and then I’ll start my wedding. Ditto all you said about coordinating. I’m still intimidated by the thought. I also have too many pictures to work with because I have all of my professional photos on DVD.
Really cute! Great use for this sketch with all the photos it holds!
Really pretty touches to this wedding layout. I’ve been married 11 years this year and STILL haven’t done a wedding scrapbook. I say I’m waiting for the perfect Collection, but I adore Crate Paper’s Portrait Collection…. it just doesn’t match my pastel wedding. I’ve considered renewing my vows just to make it work. hA!
