My mother- and father-in-law are coming to visit us next weekend and see our house for the first time! I’m so excited to have them come, and I want them to feel spoiled during their visit 🙂 I’ve seen these paper gift cones in several places, and I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity–I made one to hang in our guest room for when they come.
The cone was really straightforward to construct– I simply curled two adjacent edges of the 12″x12″ (square) sheet of patterned paper (I could have trimmed it on a curve to give the cone an even top, but I liked the extra bit at the top to show off the B-side!) and adhered them– the tricky part was getting it to stick. I added a strip of border-punched trim to the edge that ended up on the outside for some extra area for adhesive, and I used lots of double-sided tape. I reinforced it with regular clear tape on the inside.
Then it was on to embellishing– the fun part, right!? Isn’t that sequin trim fabulous? I hung the pretty custom accordian flower and two tags from the edge of the cone, and I plan to fill it with Husbands’ parents favorite candies… Twizzlers, M&Ms, and that fantastic Halloween combination– peanuts and candy corn (have you tried it?? so tasty!)!
