I was so beyond thrilled to see this arrive in the mail last week:

That layout means a lot to me– I put a lot of love (and hand-stitching!!) into it, so I was over the moon when I got contacted by Creating Keepsakes that it had been selected for publication.  I told my parents about the fact that it was going to be published, but I didn’t tell my dad that the layout was about him & me!

I got my copy in the mail last week, but I didn’t share right away because my dad reads my blog, and I wanted to surprise him with a copy of the magazine in person!

You can check it out yourself– have a look at the Creating Keepsakes special issue “Scrapbooking Holidays & Celebrations”, page 46!

It was a fantastic surprise this morning to check my reader and see that my Thanksgiving layout (made with the November 2010 Lucky Girls kit) is up on the Creating Keepsakes blog as one of the choices for their Readers’ Pick Poll!!

If it gets the most votes in the poll, it will be published in the October 2011 issue of CK!

Would you please VOTE for me?  My layout is the two-pager by user QSOgirl! (You can only vote once)  The link for the poll is through the CK blog post

Thank you so much!!!!!

This album was a gift for Joanna, one of my closest friends and my scrapbooking buddy.

The album was picked up for publication for by Scrapbooking.com– you can see it there in the June 2011 issue!

Photo-heavy post ahead!!

I was in St. Louis April 7-10 to visit her and so that we could go to the St. Louis Creating Keepsakes Convention together. We’d joked about going together for quite some time now, and when things worked out suddenly (cheap flights+flight voucher, etc.), I booked my ticket way back in January to make the trip!

Our birthdays are only a few days apart in April, so I decided I’d bring my gift along, even though it was a couple weeks early. As we were planning the visit, Joanna joked that she was designating me the “social coordinator” for the trip. That solidified an idea that I’d been rolling around in my head for her gift– a mini album to record the trip. This mini album is mostly a photo+journaling album, but it also contains a printout of our schedule for the CKC and an envelope to keep bits and pieces.

I’ve had the October Afternoon stickers for a while now, and I just love the color combination. I decided that since there were so many fantastic little journaling labels, I would use them and base the color scheme of the album on them. (Confession: I also used them because I had two sheets of each, and I intend to make a copy of this album for myself as soon as I get my hands on another Edgy Album!)

Of course, since I made the album before our trip, it has blank journaling labels and empty photo mats. Because the photos will overlap, I made sure to leave the overlapping corners “unstuck”… and for the overlapping stickers, I used a cool technique I learned from Lolly’s recent Live with Prima video– I brushed talcum powder on the sticky side of the stickers to cover the adhesive (nice side effect: album now has a faint perfume from the powder!)
