It is so exciting to have finally finished this layout! As I mentioned in a previous post, after I made a two-page spread about my daughter’s first recital, I set aside the rest of the photos I’d printed, thinking that I would get back to them quickly to create two coordinating layouts. Over a year later, I am finally finishing this series!
I again leaned on two challenges to inspire the finished product here. First, I saw the SCT Spring Issue celebration sketch challenge, and even though it’s nominally for a card, I knew it would be a great layout sketch, too! Obviously, it looks a bit different with photos across it, but hopefully you can see how I was inspired by the central block design, horizontal strip, and the large floral cluster.
I was also motivated by the March Scrap-Madness challenge to “finish the package” in Crafty Jen Schow’s Facebook Group. I finished the remainder of the bag of red paper flowers I’ve been using!
Not only that, but I finished off every scrap of the patterned paper I’d set aside for these layouts! It took some creative placement and some “gutting,” since I only had one sheet each of the floral and the stripe!
I used the same technique of combining a Cameo-cut word with painted glitter Thickers for my title.
I wanted to include an additional photo of my daugher’s dance class, so I made a tag that includes the last scrap of the floral, and it tucks into a pocket behind the photos.
On the back of the tag, I added some journaling and used the very last of the flowers!
