The theme for all the July 2022 Disney Creative Co design team challenges is “Christmas in July,” and we’re starting off with a color palette challenge!
The layout I created will go into my 2020 Disney album, because our trip in November 2020 was the first time we ever experienced the holiday overlay at Disney parks. I haven’t made very many layouts for this album yet, so I’m still figuring out the overarching themes that will carry through all the pages. However, I’ve used a lot of white cardstock in the layouts I’ve made so far, and I continued that theme with this layout.

I based the design of the layout on the beautiful sketch #626 from the Simple Scrapper sketch library. I loved this sketch so much; I could NOT get it out of my head once I laid eyes on it!! I modified it to fit my two horizontal 4×6 photos and told the story of sitting together on the Hub lawn to watch the castle projections on the very last night of our trip.

I tried out all sorts of titles and finally settled on “Together,” because this tiny moment was one of the absolute highlights of this trip. It was our first big family vacation with just the four of us, and this quiet time together was magical and the perfect way to end our trip.

Since the photos are nighttime photos and therefore very dark, I kept all my embellishments bright and used even more white. I die-cut Mickey circles out of smooth white cardstock and vellum to layer behind my bits and pieces– Mickey snowflakes die-cut from more smooth white cardstock, adorable mini acrylic Christmas Mickeys, some detail-cut poinsettias from my patterned paper, and gold glitter enamel dots.
